One of my favorite passages in all of scripture is found in Romans 8:28-30. The ESV puts it like this:

“28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.”

My wife shared this video with me this morning and while watching it, it literally brought tears to my eyes. In my opinion, the skit performed in this video in Knoxville last February is a perfect representation of the atoning and sustaining work of Jesus Christ in someone’s life. Once spiritually dead, Christians are made alive to Christ, justified, and eventually glorified. Once made alive, the Holy Spirit perseveres us to the end, no matter what comes our way. You can see the YouTube video HERE. I immediately noticed a few things in the video:

1. Her state before regeneration – dead

2. God’s (Jesus’) initiation of salvation

3. God’s effectual calling (once regenerated, she responded)

4. God’s continual drawing to Himself throughout her life of woes. There is no way this girl could have been separated eternally from the God who regenerated her. (Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”)

In a word: “Wow!”

Solo Christo!
